Upper Hemel en Aarde Pinot Noir 2021
- Pinot Noir
- South Africa
- Upper Hemel en Aarde Valley
- Bottle size
- 750 mL
Vibrant purple heart with cerise rim.
Rich, bright fresh berries, a slight earthiness and subtle spicy notes.
Medium to full-bodied palate where soft tannins contribute to a fine structure. A balanced wine with a lingering, memorable finish.
- Winemaking Notes
The cooled grapes were transported to our cellar where they were hand sorted, destemmed and gently crushed. Regular pump overs and punch downs during the 3 week fermentation and maturation process assured soft tannin and colour extraction. Aged for 12 months in 15% new French Burgundian oak.
- Growing Conditions
A cooler and wet winter gave the vines ample time to rest and build up reserves. Moderate temperatures also allowed the grapes to have a longer ripening period on the vine whilst producing wines that are fresh, lively and flavourful.
- Food Pairing
A wine to have on its own or as an aperitif, but it pairs well with cured meats, salads and dishes such as seared tuna and roasted game.
